Graduate Nurses Thrive Here

Memorial Healthcare System has created a Nurse Residency Program with proven results for successfully transitioning graduate nurses into professional practice.

We have adopted the evidence-based curriculum designed by the Vizient/American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN)™ Nurse Residency Program. This learning opportunity provides new nurses with a solid foundation on which to build skills, experience and confidence.

Nurse residents are further inspired in our culture of achievement. We share a strong vision for the future of nursing which is centered on professional excellence, interdisciplinary leadership and collaboration. Nurses who join us gain unique experiences within one of the largest public healthcare systems in the nation.

We are thoughtful in our selection of nurse residents, choosing applicants who have the drive to continuously develop their knowledge, attitude, and clinical skills. As a result, our Nurse Residency Program has an overall 94% one-year retention rate since its inception in 2018. Nurses who come here, stay here.

Retention is a signature outcome of the Vizient/American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN)™ Nurse Residency Program. In 2021, hospitals using this program averaged 86.1% retention of new nurses in the first year. We averaged 90% retention last year. Compare that with the national benchmark of only 75.9% retention across all hospital nurse residencies in 2021.

A blend of classroom study, interactive exercises and hands-on clinical work keeps nurses engaged in growing their careers among several of today’s most in-demand specialties. We offer four cohorts per year, with a formal application and interview process. Nurse residents accepted into the program become full-time employees receiving competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

I encourage all graduate nurses to consider beginning their careers here with us in beautiful South Florida. The Nurse Residency Program will get you started on success, in an environment where new nurses have every opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
